Satikanta Guha Foundation was established in September 1991 in memory of Satikanta Guha who expired in January that year.
Since its inception, the Foundation was rendering substantial financial assistance to various centers of learning, educational institutions, and needy and meritorious students.
The project of setting up a secondary and higher secondary school was undertaken in 1999, and thus Garden High School was born in 2000.
The second project involving the setting up of an international school was undertaken in April 2013. Garden High International School (GHIS), comprising at present Grades IX & X and Advanced Subsidiary & Advanced Level classes, started functioning from 07 April 2014.
The Foundation is the first totally private organization that has been approved by the HRD Ministry, Government of India, to set up a school on the campus of an IIT or IISER (Indian Institute of Science and Education and Research). The Garden High School (IISER Kolkata campus) started functioning from 31 March 2015 with classes from Nursery I to Class V.
